There's a tree in my back yard. It's twisted. It goes up, then curves down in a U and goes back up. It's a beautiful tree and I love it because it's mine. I loved it even more because it's broken. I've had it for over a year and it's still growing taller and stronger. No one expected it to last that long. My other trees have withered.

If there's a metaphor there, it smacks too much of irony.
