"Come on!" He bounds ahead, ducking through a gap in the trees, and emerges beside the stream. Sunlight glitters off the surface of the water, and a water-bird is startled by his arival, cawing and flying away.
She laughed and squeezed through after him, stepping beside him and leaning down to brush her fingertips against the surface, as if to catch the light there and hold it for her own.
