She wakes up and clumsily paws after her phone but she grabs it too late. Okay. This is exactly what a lot of pain feels like. If an alien unfamiliar to human sensation wanted to search her memories to find the very meaning of pain, this moment is exactly what Victor would reference him/her/it to. Ring-ring-r-- "Hi. What's up?" she asks.

"A lot," he answers, and he can hear that her voice sounds off but isn't sure if it's sleep or pain or something else. "Raya's alive, and at the farm, and a phantom just attacked us. He's gone for now, but he'll be back, and we could use some help if you're up for it."

"Totally. I just need five minutes, I'll be right in. Need to get ready." She tests her shoulder, oh dear heavens, her eyes well up and she chews down on the inside of her cheek.

"All right." He can tell something is off, and he knows that she won't tell him if something is wrong, so he figures he can yell at her when she gets here. "See you in five."
