"She knows that, but... this time at least most of it was based in real frustrations I've had," he admits, and he's ashamed of that.

"Oh, gosh, no, that's fine. Believe it or not, a lot of people do that. Cole's blown up at me for stuff before, and he doesn't have the red excuse. It's just what couples do sometimes. They repress because they love the person and they don't wanna hurt them and then kablammo!"

"April and I have actually never fought before. Ever. I don't know if we were just better at communicating, or we just got lucky... or what."

"Never fought," she says, softly, in actual awe. "I... I don't know what to say."

"It's not like we haven't disagreed about things before, but this is the first time there's been yelling and hurt feelings," he clarifies. "Except once, when we both got hit with a bad LOL in the Nexus, but we decided it didn't count since it wasn't us."

"That's still pretty weird," Victor says. "I mean, it's good, but... I-I think -- sorry, I'm working through this as I'm talking -- I think fighting, really fighting, gettin' upset and hurt and all that mess, I think it's good, too. It's the ultimate way of being vulnerable. That's how you for sure know something's strong. So this could be a good thing."

"That wasn't my experience before I met her," he has to confess. "All my other attempts at dating that involved fights... didn't last long. I'm kind of scared that I might've hurt her too deep for her to trust me now."

"Same. But it was when Cole and I had our first big fight and I didn't want to cut and run and move worlds that I knew, I really knew this was for real. When things got bad I never wanted to try before. She's your wife. She knows that you were on red. She knows how much you love her, and she knows that Kal can be a grade-A jerkface. Now hang up with me and call her."

"I should probably... talk to her in person." Though he's worried about his reception, he'll take it like a man, whatever it may turn out to be.

"Yeah, you should do that. You'll be fine, honey, I promise."

"Yeah. Okay." He takes a deep breath, almost silently, and lets it out slowly. "Thanks, Victor." She's good at getting his head on straight no matter which Victor she is, and he appreciates having a friend like her.

She rubs at the back of her neck, which is cold from her wet hair, and nods, even though no one's there to see. "Everything's gonna be okay," she says, reaffirming it. "Good luck."
